The School of Humanities uses Lunar New Year to promote writing

The Academic English Program is coordinated by professor Robin Scarcella in the School of Humanities. This three-quarter writing series serves over 1,600 international and English Language Learner students at UCI, teaching them effective writing and communication skills. One of the methods the program uses to develop composition skills is to offer a writing competition each year associated with the Lunar New Year. The three best student submissions are honored at the New Year festival, which is hosted by the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures.
